Members of Morton Club Together Approved Proposed Investment Estrella Football Group
Mar 14, 2026

Greenock, Scotland. The members of Morton Club Together (MCT), the supporters’ organisation and majority shareholder of Greenock Morton Football Club, have voted in favour of moving forward with the proposed investment by Estrella Football Group in the club. Following the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 2 March 2026, members were asked to vote on two motions relating to the proposed investment and the process to explore this opportunity further.
Both motions were approved with strong support from the membership. The proposal to allow Morton Club Together to sell a significant minority stake in the club, while ensuring the community retains a clear majority, received an overwhelming majority of support, with approximately 96% of members voting in favour. Members also approved entering into a 60-day exclusivity period with Estrella Football Group to conduct due diligence and further explore the proposed partnership. The approval allows the parties to move forward with the next stage of the process, including due diligence and the preparation of the Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) and Shareholders’ Agreement (SHA).
Xander Czaikowski, CEO of Estrella Football Group, said:
“We are grateful for the strong support shown by the members of Morton Club Together. Greenock Morton is a historic club with deep roots in its community, and we have great respect for the important role that supporters play in shaping the club’s future. The overwhelming backing from the membership gives a strong foundation to move forward together and explore how we can support the club’s long-term sporting ambitions, financial sustainability, and organisational development.”
Over the coming weeks, Estrella Football Group and Greenock Morton will continue working closely together during the agreed 60-day exclusivity period, carrying out due diligence and developing the structure of the proposed partnership.
Further updates will be shared as the process progresses.
