Estrella Football Group Announces Proposed Investment in Greenock Morton FC
Feb 10, 2026

Amsterdam, 10th of February 2026 – Estrella Football Group (EFG) today announces a proposed investment in Greenock Morton Football Club, reflecting a shared ambition to strengthen one of Scottish football’s most historic clubs while safeguarding its identity and community roots.
The proposed investment is subject to approval by the Morton Club Together (MCT), which represents the club's members, who will vote at a meeting on 2 March 2026. While Estrella Football Group has already completed an initial due diligence review and has strong confidence in the fundamentals of the opportunity, the proposal will, if approved, proceed to a formal due diligence phase. The investment will therefore only be finalised after approval by the members and completion of the necessary legal formalities.
EFG’s interest in Greenock Morton is rooted in the club’s rich heritage in Inverclyde, its strong supporter-led culture, and its significance to the local community. The group sees Morton as a club with the foundations to grow sustainably, on the pitch, off the pitch, and across generations.
“Greenock Morton immediately stood out to us as a club with authenticity and pride,” said Xander Czaikowski, Co-founder & CEO, at Estrella Football Group. “Our proposed investment is about protecting what makes the club special, while supporting its evolution in a modern football environment. This remains a conditional process, but we see real long-term potential here.”
EFG believes there is an opportunity to further develop club culture and fan engagement, particularly by reaching younger supporters through modern digital platforms, improved matchday experiences, and clearer storytelling around the club’s identity and values.
From a sporting perspective, EFG views the youth academy and women’s football as essential pillars of future development. The proposed partnership would explore ways to strengthen youth pathways, coaching structures, and infrastructure, while also supporting the continued growth and visibility of the club’s women’s programme.
Morton supporters have achieved a huge amount in taking ownership of the club and Cappielow Park,” said Prof. Alastair Renfrew, an MCT member who was closely involved in the discussions. “The time has now come to build on that success with Estrella Football Group, who have the utmost respect for Morton's heritage, for its supporter-led model, and for the broader community. The future partnership will be decided by MCT members, and transparency will be central throughout.
EFG also sees potential to support revenue growth and modernisation, including commercial strategy, brand development, and operational efficiency, helping the club build long-term resilience rather than short-term gains. Through its wider networks and football synergies, EFG believes Greenock Morton could benefit from shared expertise, partnerships, and best practices, while remaining firmly rooted in Inverclyde.
Further updates will be shared following the members’ meeting and, where applicable, as the due diligence process progresses.
