GDS Cascais Clinches Championship and Promotion in Landmark Season

May 11, 2026

Cascais team champions

AMSTERDAM / CASCAIS, 11 May 2026 — Estrella Football Group today announced that GDS Cascais has been crowned champions of its division, completing a season with a record points tally and securing promotion to the A.F. Lisboa 1ª Divisão, and unbeaten with one game left. In a further achievement, the club's U19 side simultaneously claimed the title in its own category, becoming champions and earning promotion in its respective division as well.

The double achievement marks the most significant milestone to date for Estrella Football Group, the sports organisation incubated by ve2ventures that is applying a horizontal multi-club ownership (MCO) model across heritage clubs with strong community roots.

The Foundation of the Estrella Model

Estrella Football Group was founded on a clear conviction: that heritage clubs with strong community roots deserve access to the same infrastructure, commercial networks, and operational expertise that have long been available to top-flight clubs, not as feeders to a parent organisation, but as equal partners within a shared ecosystem.

Cascais, a sixth-division club when Estrella first invested, was the initial test of that model. The transformation that followed was systematic. Priority was given to operational foundations: training facilities, session frequency, squad quality, and the logistical functions that determine whether a club is capable of competing seriously before commercial ambition can be layered on top.

Once those foundations were in place, the right people followed. Barbara Vara and Pedro Pinto, two experienced professionals with deep roots in football, joined the club's board, bringing expertise and relationships that capital alone cannot supply. Commercial partnerships took shape in parallel: Colure Sports built the content operation, Robey signed as kit sponsor, Catapult joined as performance technology partner, and organic brand growth attracted an influencer partnership built on credibility rather than paid placement.

The same level of ambition was applied to the youth structure from the outset. The U19 programme was treated with the same seriousness as the first team, an approach that yielded the same result.

'This success did not happen by chance. It came from systematic planning, deliberate decisions, and people who executed without ego. I am extremely proud of what everyone at Cascais has built.' David Dwinger, Co-Founder, Estrella Football Group

Implications for the Network

Cascais demonstrates what becomes possible when a heritage club receives the right support, not interference, not hierarchy, but genuine infrastructure and a network that operates in the club's interest.

'This is exactly what Estrella was built for. Cascais had the identity, the community, and the ambition. Our job was to give them what they deserved to have. The results speak for themselves.' Xander Czaikowski, Co-Founder and CEO, Estrella Football Group

Estrella Football Group is currently in advanced discussions with Club Atlético, Greenock Morton, and Auro Pro Pátria to join the group. Each prospective partner brings its own heritage, community identity, and competitive ambition; each will have access to the same platform and partnership network that underpinned the championship season at Cascais.
